1. This MARKET is held every second TURSDAY.
2. The Market commences at eleven o’clock in winter, and ten in summer. The conclusion varies from one to four o’clock
3. The Market is held in the street.
4. There is no description of Linen brought to this Market but both seven-eighth wide plain Linens. The length of each single piece is from twenty-five to twenty-six yards; the double piece, from fifty to fifty-two yards; each of which is thirty-two yards broad. There are generally nine, ten and eleven hundreds, of a good Fabric, and made of Flax Yarn.
5. The average price of the Webs brought to this Market, of the set of nine hundred, is 8½d. – ten hundred 10½d. –and eleven and twelve hundreds 12½d. per yard.
6. All Linens brought here are in the brown state.
7. In general, all Linens brought to this Market are bleached at home, exported to England in the brown state. Before the late American War, it is supposed, there was one-fourth of the Linens bought in this Market exported to America in the brown state. All the bleached Linens go to the Dublin Market, except a few sold to shopkeepers in the Country. It is supposed they are generally used for shirting, being too strong for printing.
8. All Linens are exposed to sale in this Market at the same hour.
9. The number of pieces sold on each Market-day may be averaged at two hundred. They are generally sold in double pieces, from fifty to fifty-two yards long, and it is believed that the average value of the sales of each Market-day is about £450.
10. All the manufacturers who attend this market live in the County, except a few, who live in the County of Cavan.
11. About one hundred and fifty Weavers, upon an average, attend each Market-day
12. About twenty-five Buyers attend each Market-day.
13. Of those, twenty are principal Buyers, and five Commissioners
