The fifth annual Ploughing Match of the North-West Society was held on the 26th instant on Mr. Ramsay’s farm at Gortmesson, where 14 well-appointed ploughs started, viz.

The weather being very fine, the number of spectators was great, and all seemed to take a lively interest in the proceedings of the day. The strongest emulation was evident on the part of the ploughmen, each using his utmost exertions, with hope of being the successful candidate.
