Comments: My mother-in-law a Mc Dermott was born in Co. Tyrone. She married a Walsh from Cork as she settled in NYC. Not knowing any relatives, because his parents lost touch after years living in American, we have found a 2nd cousin that introduced us to his mother's family in Greencastle. She was looking for her father's side. Believe it or not, my husband has gotten to sleep in the room where his mother was born and we stay in her old family house on the farm. How special and connected his family has made us since visiting them. It is like he knew them all his life. As luck has it I am a Mc Dermott on my father's side. He was born in NYC like his father.

Comments: My ancestor Eleazar Jenkins was born in Ireland about 1752. By 1789 he settled in Washinton County, Pennsylvania. He named his land Ballybofey. This is the only clue to his nativity I have. Your column identifies Jenkins from Ballybofey. I am positive for Donegal DNA. I would appreciate any information and have lots to share.

Comments: Hi - great site! Thanks for all the hard work and transcription. I have numerous ancestors (Noble, Brownlee, Gilmour) from County Down and County Tyrone in Northern Ireland. One I am particularly stuck on is my 2nd great-grandfather, Charles Conlon (Conlan), who was a Shoemaker and emigrated to the U.S. prior to 1869. Based on U.S. Censuses his birth year is anywhere from 1838 - 1845. His father was Patrick and mother was Cecelia (Celia). My DNA shows ancestry in Ulster and Leinster provinces (perhaps Charles was from Leinster!). Be well everyone! -Kelly
