Extracts from the Summonister’s Roll: the original records were lost in the destruction of the Public Record Office, Dublin in 1922. The details of the charges are not recorded, but many are believed to be for non-attendance. However, the importance of these records is that they record names and addresses within a few years of the Plantation of Ulster 1610-20.

Summonister’s Roll, 5 Chas I – 1628, Co. Tyrone

John Tath of Tiremegan [Tirmegan, Ardstraw Parish?], 30 March 1628 failed to appear & stand his trial. He did not appear; his bail were Wm Hamilton, Loughmuck [Drumragh Parish] & Owen McEnernee of Tiremegan. Wm Hamilton 8 Sep 1628 is liable.

Francis Wood & John Burras both of Artra [Artrea Parish?], Co. Tyrone, laborers, bound 12 Dec, 4 Chas I 1628, before Sir Thomas Staples Kt & Bt

Pat o’Mullan of Donaghenry parish John o’Boylan of Tawlet(?) convicted of felony
