Date | Death |
July 1 1823 | KERR. At Beragh, on the 5th ult. in the 78th year of his age, the REV. JAMES KERR, Presbyterian Minister of the congregation of Clogherny for 44 years. As a pastor he stood high in the estimation of his flock; as a man of benevolence, in the general circle of his acquaintance; and as a classical scholar and divine, in that of his clerical brethren. Notwithstanding his advanced age, he always manifested in his public ministration, that correct taste and sound judgment, which an early and accurate acquaintance with literature naturally produces. The numerous concourse of respectable people of every denomination, that accompanied his remains to the silent habitation of the dead, fully demonstrated how sincerely his death was regretted |
